Aftercare Instructions
General guidance for common procedures — a quick refresher, not a replacement for what your surgeon told you at discharge. If anything here seems to conflict with your specific instructions, always follow what your doctor told you and call us if you're unsure.
Contact us promptly if you notice sudden vision loss, severe or worsening eye pain, a sudden increase in redness or discharge, or fever after any eye procedure.
After Cataract Surgery — General Guidance
- Use any prescribed eye drops exactly on the schedule your surgeon gave you — this page can't substitute for that specific schedule.
- Avoid rubbing or pressing on the treated eye.
- Wear the protective shield/glasses as advised, especially while sleeping, for as long as instructed.
- Avoid strenuous activity, swimming, and dusty environments until your surgeon says it's fine to resume.
- Attend your follow-up appointment even if your vision already feels fine.
After LASIK — General Guidance
- Avoid rubbing your eyes, especially in the first few days.
- Use prescribed drops on the schedule you were given.
- Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and eye makeup for the period your surgeon specified.
- Some fluctuation in vision during initial healing is common — your surgeon will tell you what's expected in your case versus what warrants a call.
General Eye Surgery Recovery Tips
- Keep the treated eye(s) clean and avoid touching them with unwashed hands.
- Take any prescribed medication exactly as instructed — don't adjust the schedule on your own.
- Bring a list of questions to your follow-up visit; there are no bad questions during recovery.
